Job description:

This is an exciting time to be joining Barnsley CVS and the development of its volunteer offer, working closely with the Barnsley Refugee Advice Project to ensure best practice.

The main purpose of the role is to facilitate better integration of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers into community life in Barnsley using the vehicle of volunteering as a means of supporting this.

You will be responsible for building a strong and trusted relationship with the refugee and asylum-seeking community; ensuring potential volunteers are well supported to easily access volunteer roles in Barnsley and playing a significant role in community cohesion. You are likely to provide support through 1-1 support, small group sessions or carefully worded website adverts and information.  Alongside this, you will work closely with voluntary and community sector groups to help them develop appropriate opportunities, ensure good practice and create a network of trusted organisations.

You will need a passion for volunteering and inclusion, patience to work with vulnerable communities and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people in both a written and spoken context.
