Crossroads Care has more than 26 years of experience, helping carers to have a break by providing one to one support with caring in the home.
As a registered charity provider, we deliver care locally. Together with care providers nationally, we reach almost half a million carers a year!
We provide a wide range of quality support services for carers and the people they care for, no matter what age group, type of illness or disability they have.
We have a small dedicated team in our main office, however we are looking for an office support volunteer who can assist us with administration tasks around the office, to ensure we can keep delivering an effective service.
We are looking for someone who can help with photocopying, shredding and all manner of dealing with our office paper work. This means we can make sure our office runs efficiently and is organised effectively. Volunteers may also need to help initially answer calls in our main office, pass them onto the appropriate staff member and take messages. We receive calls from carers, support staff and partner agencies, so it will be varied who you may get to speak to.
We believe it’s important that when someone calls, their call is answered by a friendly voice. A simple, friendly Hello can mean everything. As we are a small team, we can’t always be near the phone to do this. You will not be expected to answer any queries, but can assure the person on the other end of the phone, that someone will get back to them as soon as possible. We think this is much more personable than an answer phone and helps us ensure we deliver great care in all aspects of our service.
There are no formal qualifications required for this role, but we are looking for someone who is passionate about the sector we work in, has a friendly, approachable manner and can take good notes.
Confidentiality will be key to this role as some documents you may have to deal with will be sensitive.
Full training will be given for the role and a chance to volunteer in other roles in Crossroads if the roles suit.
All volunteers will be supported and recognised for the help they are giving us and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
We have a really simple process when you have expressed an interest to become a volunteer with us. Once we know you are interested, we will arrange a quick chat as soon as possible and show you round the office to meet the team.
