Role summary
Volunteer garden guides provide a warm welcome for all visitors, helping them explore and learn more about Wentworth Castle Gardens so they have an enjoyable and memorable visit through activities such as giving tours to short talks and events.

What's involved?
Providing a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors as the public face of the National Trust.
Learning about everything on offer at Wentworth Castle Gardens so you can answer any questions and enable our visitors to enjoy their day.
Using the knowledge and skills you have gained to give talks and tours that will help promote our garden.
Helping us tell Wentworth Castle Gardens story to our visitors so they can understand what a special place this is.

Days required: Mon AM, Mon PM, Tues AM, Tues PM, Weds AM, Weds PM, Thur AM, Thur PM, Fri AM, Fri PM, Sat AM, Sat PM, Sun AM, Sun PM

Recruitment process:

To apply for any of the volunteering roles at Wentworth Castle Gardens, please go to the page https://myvolunteering.nationaltrust.org.uk/opportunity-search
and type in 'wentworth castle gardens. You can then fill in the application form on the role profile for your chosen volunteering opportunity. We will then invite you to an introductory session so that you can find out more about becoming a National Trust volunteer!

Extra Information

We’ll help you get to know Wentworth Castle Gardens with an introductory training session at the property.
We’ll cover agreed costs of your travel between home and Wentworth Castle Gardens (up to 30 miles per day return).
We’ll support you in the role with any necessary training.
Hours and shifts are flexible.

Someone who has a passion for gardens, heritage and history.
Keen to share your knowledge with a range of different audiences.
Someone who is enthusiastic about inspiring visitors of all ages and loves being around diverse groups of people- you’ll meet a lot each day!
Someone who is interested in Wentworth Castle Gardens and the National Trust and is keen to learn more. You don’t need to know the history of everything, but have a willingness to learn and share your knowledge.
By getting involved you could:
